ZEN ANTIBACTERIAL: Packaging Redesign
From 2020 until early 2021, Kolam Susu Studio had a chance to re-designing packaging for Zen. An antibacterial family soap with Japanese Red Shiso as its main ingredient alongside other natural ingredients such as sandalwood, sea salt, and sulfur.

Yes, correct, it doesn’t change that much…
In fact, we’ve explored many ranges for Zen but it turns out the best one for Zen is the one closest to their already marketed packaging.
This project was the first time we put our hands into re-designing packaging. We learned that when it comes to re-designing, it’s not always about trying a new approach. Sometimes, it’s about enhancing the most important elements of the brand. In this project, we choose Japanese Red Shiso as the strongest and most interesting visual element to speak more.
On the FIRST EXPLORATION when we pull out many ranges for Zen, out of 33 sketches we clean up 12 sketches into more readable concepts. Of course, none of these meet up to the brand’s expectations.
That is why we decided; SECOND EXPLORATION!
On the SECOND EXPLORATION, we made some concepts that are not too far from the already marketed packaging. One of the designs from this second exploration made it to the brand’s expectations!
Zen Logo Natural Ingredients Exploration
While we adjusted the design, we made some adjustments to the Zen logo and how Zen represents its natural ingredients.

In early 2021, Zen expanded its product range. One of them was a hand wash product. We made the hand wash packaging design from scratch referring to the main product, antibacterial body wash.
