“Different medium, same virtues”
Kolam Susu Studio believes that the room to produce fiction and ideas are endless; from one story to various medium experiences. These art zine collections are one of those medium experiences. Kolam Susu Studio believes that the space to create fiction and ideas is limitless, expanding beyond a single narrative into diverse forms of expression. Each story holds the potential to evolve, to be translated into multiple sensory and visual experiences across different mediums. This art zine collection represents one of those explorations—an intimate, tangible format where ideas are distilled and reimagined.
Through 32 carefully crafted pages, we transform concepts into a curated visual journey, inviting readers to engage, interpret, and connect with stories in a more personal, reflective, and enduring way.
On September 2022, we made five art zines with five different themes and concepts;
BLUEBIRD, CHICKEN, FAIRYTALE, KIDS FROM YESTERDAY, SEMOGA.
BLUEBIRD – Development Journey
One of our Animated Music Video in collaboration with Grammy award-nominated musician, Cory Wong. The Music video with the same title as this zine “BLUEBIRD” can easily be found on YouTube.
Since we don’t like to keep everything for ourselves, we’d like to share our development journey of ”BLUEBIRD” – Cory Wong’s Music Video on this zine!

How Far Would you go to taste some CHICKEN?
CHICKEN! One of the easiest proteins you find on this earth! A story journey from one of Kolam Susu’s writers finding three different shapes of chicken in three different cities; Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali.

FAIRYTALE - Picture Book
Have you watched Kolam Susu’s latest music video titled Fairytale – Milky Chance on youtube? With its bold and striking visuals, it’s hard to not notice it!
Related but also not related, before the music video was published, we already made this zine in 2022. With illustrations series inspired by Milky Chance’s song titled “FAIRYTALE” inside!

KIDS FROM YESTERDAY: Passage Of Tracks
A passage of kids from yesterday working together to pass boundaries – to hop from the first to the
third train cart – to find what they are looking for. It’s a mini graphic novel in the form of an art zine, there’s also one ticket to travel to the past!

SEMOGA - Nindya's Journal
A series of prompts for your soul. Semoga is a reflective journal about the self and the people around you. Semoga is created as an ode for friendship and the journey of becoming.
You can write down your thoughts and respond to the story on this zine since it has fillable blank spaces. It also comes with a greeting card that you can detach from the book if you want!

September 2022 is the first time selling our Art Zine Collections at Jakarta Art Book Fair. We really are happy for the enthusiasm of the people who visited our booth.
At the end of the book fairs, we made it to sell 200+ pieces of artwork!
